Simply Strawberry Jam
January is jam season so it’s time to get your stock pots and favourite jam recipe at the ready. Here at BuyCatering our favourite jam recipe has to be simply strawberry jam. We use a large stock pot to cook the jam, check out our recipe below.
Ingredients
1.75kg Strawberries
2kg Cater Sugar
1tbsp Butter (Unsalted)
6tsp Pectin (powdered)
Directions
1. Place 1.75kg strawberries into a large stockpot and crush down using a large spoon or ladle.
2. Pour in 2kg sugar and heat very slowly
3. Add 6tsp of powdered pectin
4. Continue to stir until all the sugar has dissolved into the strawberries
5. Add 1tbsp of butter
6. Bring to the boil for 5 minutes
7. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 1-2minutes
8. Pour jam into glass jars and cover.
Jam will mature and taste better if left to fully cool and set for a few days. We recommend you leave the jam for up to 1 week before eating, however once it has fully cooled your jam will be ready to eat.
Serving Suggestions
Try spreading a generous serving of simply strawberry jam onto a freshly made scone along with some clotted cream – yummy! Or for a healthier option try jam lightly spread onto some freshly made toast.
