Kilner Vacufresh Storage
It is reported that in the UK we are wasting 6.7 million tonnes of food each year, that is the equivalent of over £12bn worth of food and drink that could of have been consumed is thrown out every year by householders. According to the Guardian newspaper the cost of the avoidable food and drink waste is typically £480 per household per year – rising to around £680 a year for families with children.
One solution to help reduce the amount of fresh food we throw away is to keep it started in lockable vacuum storage systems. This works by removing a percentage of the air in the container reducing the ability of some bacteria to breed whilst also slowing down the oxidisation process, keeping your food fresher for longer.
Kilner Vacufresh containers offer a way to store food in a secure vacuum environment, keep food fresher for longer and reduce waste. How does it compare to my usual containers?
The manufacturer has carried out freshness tests compared to non vacuum storage and had found that by using a Vacufresh container you can retain exactly the same “purchase date” freshness for up to three day.
